This is a good all-around stethescope for nursing use. It's lightweight, has comfortable earpieces, and the sound is clear and easy to hear. Cheaper scopes are certainly available, but you'll be using this for years -- and this one certainly holds up for years...my sister has been using hers since 1986. I bought my Littman Classic II on my sister's advice (yep, also a nurse) when I started nursing school clinicals in 1999 -- it was so much lighter than the Sprague I'd been using...and frankly, anything that saved me a little stress during the ordeal of nursing school was well worth it. When my daughter started nursing school last fall, and complained to me that she was having trouble hearing BPs and lung sounds with the school supplied scopes, I bought this same scope for her. She LOVES it and her fellow students are envious. My brother will be starting nursing school next year, and I think this will make a marvelous gift for him as well.

I have used this model for over 15 years. I think its durable and comfortable to use. My son is in medical school and I bought this as a gift for him. I was suprised to see it so heavily discounted on Amazon. Great price, 1/2 what I would be paying my medical supply person.

I've had mine for about 3-4 years. You can pick up murmurs and crackles very easily with this model. Recently, I tried using my former stethoscope on patients (Sprague Rappaport), and WHOA!! I could barely hear anything!! (I had gotten spoiled by my Cards-III for the last few years without even knowing it!) Years ago, I was wondering how my classmates and residents (all of whom seemed to have the Cards-III) could hear murmurs and stuff, and I couldn't! As a resident now, I'm glad I own one. One day, I forgot my own Cards-III, and had to borrow a colleague's stethoscope (it was a Classic II SE). Even though her Classic II SE was also a Littman, I still couldn't hear as clearly through that, as I did the Cards-III. On the downside, it is rather pricey. But I equate it to buying a good pair of glasses. In exchange for your money, you'll be able to hear a lot more.

I am a practicing Pediatrician. I've used this scope for all of my training and now in practice. Every time I borrow someone else's, I'm amazed at how much better this one is. I had to replace the diaphragms one time in 7 years. That was a cheap way to make things seem like new. It's good for adults, kids, and babies. It's too big for the very smallest of premies, but they usually have their own scopes at the bedside.

I'm a 2nd yr surgical resident. I've had this sthetoscope for about 7 or 8 yrs, it served me well in my clinical clerkships, as well working as i got out of college, and now in my residency years. Its best atributes are: 1. it does not hurt your ears; 2. excellent accoustics, it achieves a great seal from enviromental noise, letting hear what you actually want; 3. Great durability, i'm just buying a new one because i misplaced mine at the hospital, and of course, never again...

I truly enjoy this stethoscope, it's served me very well in my clinicals, and I'll continue to use it in my nursing practice. Picking up faint heart and lung sounds is effortless, and the single bell design is simple and convenient. Patients never complain that the bell feels cold on their skin. I'm giving this stethoscope five stars, but if you're thinking about purchasing one yourself, you should know that the tubing is pretty sticky, and tends to collect more than its fair share of dust and lint. This feature hasn't been a concern to me, because it only encourages frequent cleaning between patients. Also, if you prefer to wear it across the back of your neck, know that the 'stickiness' takes some getting used to against your skin. That's why I normally carry mine in my pocket :D

I never really thought it mattered what stethoscope you had. If it cost 15 or 60 dollars I didn't think there was much difference. I stand corrected. After listening to lung and heart sounds through this Littmann, I will never again settle for a cheap imitation.

Littman has always been a trusted name for high quality stethoscopes. The Littman Lightweight is no exception. This is the perfect stethoscope for CNA, LPN, and Nursing students. It is also ideal for people who have trouble hearing with low quality steths. This model is durable and well-made. It is lightweight and comfortable...which is important when you wear it around your neck for extended periods of time. The tubing is flexible and the earpieces are much better than cheaper versions. I began with this Littman and upgraded to the Littman Classic when I graduated Nursing school. In my experience, a quality stethoscope makes a WORLD of difference in the care that is provided. It is well worth the investment!!!

My old faithful *insert high end company name here* first stethoscope from nursing school died on me after three years. I ordered this model with modest expectations, and I was very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the product. Having relatively "rookie" ears, I'm very pleased at the quality of the acoustics of this little fella. Lung sounds have never been clearer, and I can pick up a murmur from six feet away. Well, the last part is a bit exaggerated, but you get the idea. I give this little guy two thumbs up.

I bought this stethoscope a couple of months back, its the best purchase. It has really good acoustics, very accurate when taking blood pressure. I recommend this to anyone who wants to get something good and cheap.
